Citing Trump, Advocacy Group Reports Uptick in Hate Groups
The Southern Poverty Law Center says it counted 917 hate groups and other extremist organizations operating in the U.S. last year, up slightly from 2015. The group’s Mark Potok called 2016 “an unprecedented year for hate” as the radical right was energized by the candidacy of Donald Trump.
