MO Settlement Called Powerful Message to Gun Sellers

Missouri gun store paid woman $2.2 million for selling her mentally ill daughter a gun that was used to kill her father, despite being warned it could happen. The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence says there are at least 10 similar civil cases pending, including in Florida, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Texas.

Report: Youths Denied Due Process in Missouri

A new report that examines due process for juveniles in Missouri found that, with a few exceptions, “youth are discouraged from and systematically denied counsel throughout the state.” The National Juvenile Defense Center (NJDC) compiled survey data from judges and attorneys across the state, conducted interviews with youth and families and made site visits to local juvenile courts in a sampling of jurisdictions.
