Juvenile justice advocates in New Jersey are calling for reforms to Megan’s Law when it comes to children accused of sexual offenses, arguing that don’t deserve the label of sex offender for life or even at all, reports the New Jersey Monitor. New Jersey is one of 42 states that allow juveniles to be placed on sex offender registries, despite the fact that only 5 percent of juvenile sex offenders commit new sex crimes. Under New Jersey law, registration as a sex offender is lifelong.
