If Brittney Griner’s conviction is not overturned and she’s not included in a prisoner swap between the US and Russia, the eight-time WNBA All-Star will serve her sentence at a penal colony, Insider reports. Direct descendants of the Soviet Union’s infamous Gulag system, Russian penal colonies are prison labor camps known as disease incubators where human rights abuses run rampant.
Griner will be sent to one of the 35 or so all-women penal colonies in the country, some of which, such as prison colony No. 14 in Mordovia, are notoriously brutal. Inmates there are said to live among rats and lose fingers while working 17-hour days at sewing machines. Across the penal system, dilapidated infrastructure has limited access to running water and heat, especially in more remote locations, and prisoner hygiene is often neglected. The colonies are also severely overcrowded, with most prisoners living in close quarters alongside approximately 50 other people.

It is not fair for a young woman like Ms. Brittney Griner to do time in a jail in that condition. No women deserve that punishment regardless the crime. They should at least put in special place for the meantime.
Lisa. That’s what happens when you break the law.especially in Russia. She thought she wouldn’t get caught. But she did. And she pleaded guilty. She doesn’t need any special anything!! Maybe she’ll come back and stand for our national anthem because we’re the greatest country in the world!
