The search for a suspect accused of shooting and killing a 74-year-old man Sunday in Cleveland and then posting a video of the coldblooded slaying on Facebook ended today when Steve W. Stephens died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Erie, Pa., reports GoErie.com. Authorities had issued an aggravated murder warrant for Stephens, 37. The Pennsylvania State Police said its officers spotted Stephens driving this morning. After a brief pursuit, Stephens shot and killed himself.
At about 2 p.m. Sunday, authorities said Stephens pulled up in his Ford Fusion on a road in East Cleveland and said in a Facebook-bound recording: “I found somebody I’m about to kill … “I’m about to kill this guy right here. He’s an old dude.” Stephens made the statement as he approached Robert Godwin Sr., who was reportedly collecting aluminum cans.
