Trump Declares April As Sexual Assault Awareness Month

President Trump declared April to be National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. Barack Obama did the same thing at the same time the last two years, but given Trump’s comments about women, including the “Access Hollywood” recording in which he bragged about grabbing women by their genitals, as well as allegations from several women that he sexually assaulted them, the president’s critics saw the announcement as tragically ironic, McClatchy Newspapers reports.

Comedian Tina Fey, speaking at an American Civil Liberties Union telethon, said, “In what is surely an April Fool’s joke, the president proclaimed that next month will be National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. So now we know what he gave up for Lent.”
