Donald Trump made several misstatements on criminal justice issues in last night’s presidential debate, Politico reports. Trump said that opponent Hillary Clinton was “laughing on two occasions” at a girl she represented as a lawyer in a rape case in 1975 in Arkansas. Politico says this is false. In an interview about the case, Clinton chuckled about issues not regarding the rape. She noted that her client passed a polygraph test, and chuckled that it “forever destroyed my faith in polygraphs.”
Speaking about last December’s terrorist attack in San Bernardino, Ca., Trump said that Muslims had seen bombs “all over the apartment of the people that wounded many, many people.” Politico says a neighbor had mentioned packages but never bombs. Trump also said that he had been endorsed by ICE, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. That is not correct; he was endorsed in September by a union of ICE employees.
