A “gang component” was being investigated in a shooting spree that left three people dead and four wounded in Stockton, Ca., yesterday, reports USA Today. Police said the drive-by shooting took place outside a convenience store near downtown. Police spokesman Joe Silva said a 27-year-old woman died at the scene and a 20-year-old woman and 24-year-old man died at a hospital. Four men, ranging in age from 24 to 38, were wounded.
Police are uncertain if there were multiple shooters, but “there’s a lot shell casings out here,” Silva said. Witnesses told the Stockton Record they heard dozens of gunshots. Some said they heard 30 to 40. “It was round after round after round – boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,” said Jack Olmstead . “You could tell it was a high-caliber semiautomatic.”
