Capping an eight-month saga that captivated Austin, Tx., a judge ruled that Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg can keep her job after a drunken driving arrest, bad behavior in jail and, most recently, a civil case to force her from office, reports the Austin American-Statesman. After three days of testimony that aired her drinking habits and physical ailments, visiting Judge David Peeples of San Antonio said he wouldn't remove Lehmberg as the county’s top felony prosecutor. Police Chief Art Acevedo, who was unable to testify, would have said that since her re-election in November, he has never seen the district attorney impaired, and that her April arrest has not adversely affected her or her office's relationships with the law enforcement community, her attorney said.
