Kevin Dale, news director of the Denver Post, confirms the news that has “swirled around the journalism and marijuana community”: The paper is going to designate a “pot editor.” Coloradans voted this year to legalize the recreational use and sale of marijuana, beginning Jan. 1. Dale wrote, “The new year will bring all angles together in a way that is challenging and exciting for us. We plan to do what we do with any major story: throw our best muscle, creative minds and ingenuity at the project.”

Dale said the new pot editor will come from inside the paper. He wrote, “We're going to have some fun – with a mix of news, entertainment and culture stories…We know how to cover big stories. And with pot, you ain't seen nothing yet.” As Matt Ferner put it in the Huffington Post, “Things are about to get a lot higher at Mile High City’s paper of record.”
