Anchorage Chief Instructs Officers Not to Shoot at Vehicles


In a policy change, Anchorage Police Chief Mark Mew has instructed officers not to shoot at suspects who are using vehicles as weapons unless they are otherwise armed, reports the Anchorage Daily News.

Mew said there had been an increase in the number of cases of officers firing at cars, which places the officers, bystanders and innocent passengers at risk. “We think there's a better way to do it,” Mew said.
