Call for Applications: Soros Justice Fellowships

The Soros Justice Fellowships annually funds 15 – 20 outstanding individuals to implement innovative projects that advance reform and spur debate on the Open Society Foundations' criminal justice priorities in the United States. This year, fellowship applications are due on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Fellows receive funding through the following two categories:

Advocacy: For lawyers, advocates, grassroots organizers, policy-oriented academics, and others with important perspectives to initiate innovative policy advocacy projects at the local, state, and national levels. Advocacy Fellowships are 18 months in duration and come with a stipend ranging from $75,000 – $105,000 (plus eligible for additional funds for health insurance, loan repayment assistance, and professional development).

Media: For writers, print and broadcast journalists, bloggers, filmmakers, and other individuals with distinctive voices proposing to complete media projects for local, regional, and national markets that will engage the public and spur debate. Media Fellowships are 12 months in duration and come with a stipend of $50,000 – $70,000 (plus eligible for additional funds for health insurance and project expenses).
