The Future of Policing


What will American police forces look like in 20 years? A new book examines how things like biometrics, information-sharing and supercomputing will change how police do their job.

In “Moving Toward the Future of Policing,” published by RAND, authors analyzed major policing innovations, including the CompStat model, and looked forward at tools such as facial recognition in surveillance footage and increased communication among agencies, to make predictions and suggestions about how law enforcement might evolve over the next two decades.
