Although early research found that fear of crime among the elderly is a significant problem and concern, a recent report, “The Role of Environmental Indicators on the Perceptions of Crime of the Elderly,” by criminologist John Lewis of Indiana University of Pennsylvania found that these fears were mostly unfounded.

This raises important quality of life questions for the “baby boomer” generation.
