The National Crime Prevention Association is starting a certification program to recognize qualified law enforcement officers and others working as crime prevention specialists. Prevention officers are in increasing demand for security and vulnerability assessments for local schools, colleges, businesses, hospitals. The certification program is designed to expand the numbers of certified crime prevention specialists to meet the demand.
NCPA, a membership organization of 1,400 law enforcement and other crime prevention practitioners, developed the certification program through a grant from the U.S. Bureau of Justice Assistance. Anyone with training and experience in crime prevention, whether employed by or volunteering fo, a law enforcement or other government agency or private organization may apply for the certification at www.ncpc.org/ncpa
