The National Rifle Associatiion will take part when the Supreme Court hears arguments March 2 on its latest big gun-rights case, a challenge to Chicago’s gun restrictions, reports the National Law Journal. The justices will consider whether the Second Amendment individual right to bear arms applies against state and local restrictions on firearms.
The NRA will share argument time with Alan Gura, representing plaintiffs in the Chicago case. Gura took the landmark case challenging Washington, D.C.,’s handgun ban to the high court in 2007. The NRA is represented by former U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement.
