Paper Examines High Cost Of Atlanta Police Suspensions

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports on the high cost of lengthy suspensions of police officers. The papers says 26 officers are currently on suspension, facing charges that include sexual assault, felony domestic battery, aggravated assault and even murder.

Seventeen of the 26 suspended officers have not been charged with crimes and have continued to earn paychecks, most working administrative duty without a badge and gun. The cumulative amount of pay the 17 suspended officers have received – about 290 months' worth of salary – could put at least 24 officers on the street for a year.
