VT’s Sessions To Chair Federal Sentencing Panel

U.S. District Judge William K. Sessions III of Vermont has been named Chair of the United States Sentencing Commission by President Obama. Sessions, a vice chair of the commission, has served on the panel since President Clinton nominated him and he was confirmed by the Senate in 1999. President Bush nominated him for a second term in 2003.

Sessions has been a federal judge since 1995. He is not to be confused with William S. Sessions, former FBI director and also a former federal judge.
