Expertise: Taylor has spent more than two decades researching urban youth culture and is regarded as a gang expert. He says a “Third City” has emerged in U.S. metro areas, forgotten by mainstream culture and marked by its own norms related to violence, drugs, weapons and amoral behavior. Taylor serves as principal investigator for the Michigan Gang Research Project.
