Take your computer in for servicing with child pornography on it and you may be subject to arrest–no search warrant required, a Pennsylvania court has ruled. Videos and photographs seized from a computer may be used as evidence against a 72-year-old man charged with possessing child pornography, said a judge’s ruling reported by the Reading (Pa.) Eagle.
Kenneth Sodomsky lost his right to privacy when he took his computer to a Circuit City store, the court said. Technicians at the store inadvertently discovered a video of a man fondling a boy. Police found 119 pornographic photos of children and 39 pornographic videos of children on Sodomsky's computer. Sodomsky took his computer to the store to have additional equipment, including a DVD burner, installed.
