Seattle Woman Called A Hero For Leading Anti-Meth Drive

Susan York, a Reader’s Digest “Hero of the Year” nominee, is an anti-methamphetamine crusader from Seattle, reports the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. York co-founded a grop called “Lead On America” that has claimed responsibility for helping close 41 houses so far, and more are on their way out. “She’s been very effective,” said Detective Mark Thomas of the Snohomish Regional Drug Task Force. York helps organize neighbors and educate them about what they can do to help police close down meth houses when dealers have set up shop on their streets, experience she gained firsthand in her own neighborhood.

York, known as “Agent Pink” by her detective friends, has accompanied them on raids. “I love seeing bad guys be removed,” she said. “But my heart breaks and aches for them.” Her passion for eradicating drugs in neighborhoods stems from personal experience. Her mother, who she says was addicted to prescription drugs, died of an overdose.
