Boston’s Sullivan Named Acting ATF Director

U.S. Attorney Michael J. Sullivan in Boston, who has headed the federal criminal probe into the fatal Big Dig tunnel collapse, has been appointed acting director of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, reports the Boston Herald. Sullivan will not step down as U.S. Attorney when he assumes the new position.

Said Sullivan: “It is certainly an honor to be afforded the opportunity to work with the men and women law enforcement professionals of the Bureau, an agency that is known for its excellence and integrity.” Sullivan, 51, replaces Carl Truscott, who resigned after questions were raised about his spending on a new ATF headquarters.
