“DNA evidence is the key to finding out whether John Mark Karr is JonBenet Ramsey’s killer or just a nut case seeking his 15 minutes of fame, says the Rocky Mountain News. Karr’s “kooky confession” won’t be enough to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt, said former prosecutor Craig Silverman. Former Denver District Attorney Norm Early questioned whether the case will ever go to trial. “Unless there is something positive in DNA or a match to handwriting, I don’t think he’ll be charged,” he said.
“I can’t imagine anyone inside the law community believing this confession,” said Brent Turvey, a forensic scientist and author of Criminal Profiling: An Introduction to Behavioral Evidence Analysis. “It obviously doesn’t fit.”
