Dallas Police Seize $13.3 Million In Cocaine In “Huge” Busts

Two drug busts netted about 654 pounds of cocaine as the largest such seizures in Dallas police history, worth an estimated $13.3 million on the street, reports the Dallas Morning News. “This is huge, huge,” said Deputy Chief Julian Bernal “In the big scheme of things, this is a lot of drugs. Any time you’ve got those kind of amounts, you obviously have some pretty serious connections. Any time somebody loses 650 pounds of somebody’s dope, somebody’s in trouble.”

Four people were arrested. The incident began when police stopped a Dodge pickup that had been seen earlier at a home that was being staked out as part of a drug investigation. When the truck was pulled over for a traffic violation, officers saw a gun inside and arrested the vehicle’s occupants. A search of the vehicle found more than six pounds of cocaine. At another location later, polce found two men about to drive away in a Ford pickup. Police found 294 kilograms – or about 647 pounds of cocaine – uncovered in the bed of the pickup. Each kilo was wrapped in brown paper.
