Acting Portland Chief Starts To Shake Up Department

Acting Portland Police Chief Rosie Sizer has demoted the right-hand man of Chief Derrick Foxworth, who has been put on paid leave during a sexual harassment investigation. The Oregonian says that Sizer was ready to take control yesterday, parking in the chief’s spot and announcing a handful of personnel changes within hours of arriving at work. Sizer said Mayor Tom Potter had given her “wide discretion” to make changes she decides are needed.

It has been no secret the past few months that Potter, a former Portland chief devoted to community policing, had qualms about Foxworth’s aide, who has earned a reputation as a hard worker but a manager more interested in tracking arrests. Sizer demoted him to to the rank of captain and assigned him to run the Identification Division.
