Duelling Autopsies in FL Boot Camp Death

The Miami Herald says that contradictory autopsy reports on Martin Lee Anderson, a 14-year-old boy who died in a Florida “boot camp” for juvenile offenders, have created a dilemma for the Tampa prosecutor who is trying to determine whether eight guards should be charged with wrongdoing in the case.

The first autopsy, by the county medical examiner, concluded Anderson died from complications related to sickle-cell trait. A second autopsy found that Anderson’s death was not natural.”We want Dr. Siebert to base his findings on the truth, and if he made a mistake, he needs to revise his report,” said Benjamin Crump, the Tallahassee attorney representing the dead youth’s parents.
