Authorities planned to return today to the McKeesport, Pa., property where more than 300 fetuses were found in a garage to search the area with a cadaver dog on the chance that other remains might be discovered, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Representatives from the Allegheny County coroner’s office and Allegheny County police will be one hand at the former home of suspended funeral director Robert Winston Jr.
Authorities on Saturday recovered from a detached garage 27 boxes filled with specimen containers holding the remains of fetuses from less than 16 weeks old to full-term babies. Winston was under contract with Magee-Womens Hospital to take custody of fetal remains from 1999 to 2002 and deliver them to Pittsburgh Cremation Service in Ross, authorities said. That apparently was not done in every case, and police and prosecutors are mulling charges against Winston.
