Do the law enforcement agencies you cover have special provisions for monitoring registered sex offenders on Halloween, a holiday that has the potential of putting predators in contact with children? Most sex offenders accused or convicted of crimes against juveniles are barred from contact with children.
The Houston Chronicle reports that deputies there are teaming with probation officers to monitor the homes of registered sex offenders on Halloween. Deputies will drive past homes of sex probationers to make sure there are no decorations that could entice children onto their property. “What’s better for a sex offender then having a child come to your door and ask for candy?” said one official.
