A man arrested for what his family says was vacation video of a Virginia bridge also has been mentioned in a Chicago indictment involving funnelling money to the militant Islamic group Hamas, the Baltimore Sun reports. Ismail Selim Elbarasse, a Palestinian who became a naturalized U.S. citizen, is accused in separate investigations of laundering money for Hamas and of videotaping the structure of the bridge in what investigators have suggested may have been terrorist planning.
Elbarasse has not been charged in either case and is being held as a material witness in the Chicago indictment of other men accused of moving money donated to Muslim charities to fund Hamas. He was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in that case.
