TV-Inspired “Abduction” Sends Ohio Trio To Jail

Two men and a woman were sent to jail terms in Canton, Ohio, for an abduction prank. Judge Richard Reinbold sentenced Corrianne Lapp, 22, Zachary Troyer, 21, and Timothy Sommers, 23, on Monday, reports the Canton Repository.

It was supposed to be similar to tricks played on a Sci-Fi Channel hidden camera show “Scare Tactics.” After Lapp and two friends drove out of a bar parking lot, and Sommers and Troyer used another vehicle to block their car and “kidnap” Lapp. The men later whispered “Happy Halloween” to the scared friends.

Reinbold considered sending the trio to prison for six months. “This may have been one of the worst conceived ideas for a prank … I've heard in my life,” he said. He sentenced each to 120 days in jail, five years probation, 100 hours community service, and a $7,000 fine. He ordered them to pay for counseling the victims may need and promised to send them to prison for eight years if they don't follow his sentence.
