The leader of a white supremacist group who federal agents said was amassing weapons at his Georgia home has pleaded guilty to illegal possession of firearms. Chester Doles, a former Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, was the Georgia leader of the National Alliance. One of Doles’ lawyers, former congressman Bob Barr, said he expects Doles’ sentence to be no longer than 10 years.
Deborah Lauter, Southeast regional director of the Anti-Defamation League, said, “Doles has been a leading voice of hatred, bigotry and intolerance in the North Georgia region for years. We have been very concerned about his activities.”
