Ky. crime lab has 10,000 case backlog

Print More Piles of evidence in drug cases have overwhelmed the Kentucky State Police Forensic Lab, leading to as much as six months' wait for testing. Officials say the caseload has doubled in little more than a decade, from about 20,000 cases in 1989 to 40,000 in 2001. About 80 percent of the 10,000 case backlog is drug evidence, officials said.
