A 22-year-old homeless man has been arrested on charges of stealing a gym bag from a truck parked behind the home of Baltimore Mayor Martin O’Malley, the Baltimore Sun reports. The mayor typically receives round-the-clock security at his residence.

The truck is owned by O’Malley’s wife, District Judge Catherine Curran O’Malley. Officers found the gym bag, which contained Catherine O’Malley’s clothes, in a neighbor’s yard. A surveillance camera mounted behind O’Malley’s house caught the incident on tape.

The mayor can take some solace in crime statistics that he often trumpets as a sign Baltimore is improving: Thefts from cars dropped citywide by 14 percent from 1999 through last year. But in the Northeastern District, where O’Malley lives, thefts from cars increased 24 percent during the same period.
