U. Of Minnesota Wants To Ban Guns Despite New Law

Defying a new state gun law allowing concealed handguns, University of Minnesota President Robert Bruininks wants to bar weapons from all campuses and from school sports events. The proposed policy, which would prohibit people with permits from carrying handguns on campus or at a venue such as the Metrodome when school teams are playing, is “common sense.”

The Minneapolis Star Tribune says that if the university’s regents approve the policy, the institution would join other public entities in banning guns. The Ramsey County Board passed a similar ban Tuesday, and the Hennepin County Board passed a policy June 10, banning guns from all county-run buildings.
