Homeland Security Agency Hands Out $700 Million

Washington, D.C., will get more than $42 million, Los Angeles $18.9 million and San Francisco $18.6 million to improve security under new federal Homeland Security Department grants. The awards were among $700 million for cities, ports and mass transit systems. The funds can be used to help defray the costs of heightened security during the recent Code Orange, the Los Angeles Times reports.
