Expulsions, Possible Criminal Charges for Hazing

Print More

Under national scrutiny after a violent off-campus hazing incident, Glenbrook North High School in the Chicago suburbs suspended some senior girls for 10 days and says it wants to expel those involved in the brawl. Expulsion would mean the students could not attend their June 8 graduation or this weekend’s prom, the Chicago Tribune reports.

School officials would not say how many students were disciplined for participating in the May 4 fracas. The unidentified students have three days to appeal. Police said they may file criminal charges against the students or any parents who supplied alcohol. Many students were shown drinking beer on a videotape of the incident.
