Montgomery County, Md., Police Chief Charles A. Moose has bowed to complaints from the mayor of the nation’s capital and removed the term “D.C.” from the title of his new book about last fall’s sniper incident. The original title was “Three Weeks in October: The Manhunt for the D.C. Sniper.” But Moose’s lawyer, Ronald A. Karp, said yesterday that the new subtitle is expected to be “How a Lifetime of Nurturing Helped Me to Deal With a Public Crisis.” D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams wrote to Moose last week protesting the inclusion of D.C. in the title. He noted that only one murder took place in the District; the other shootings during the spree occurred in nearby Maryland and Virginia.
