  1. Wow!! Phong Dang’s story was so powerful and sends out a strong message. As a teacher in a detention center, I was compelled to offer it as a class discussion to all of my students. If his story serves to save only one of them to give up their gang lifestyle or turn to God for direction, it will truly make my day. This was such an inspirational and touching article. I pray that others will learn from his mistakes and will turn their lives around. Once you get out, you might consider dedicating your life to counseling “at risk” youth or traveling around the country as a speaker with the hopes of possibly saving someone’s life. God bless you, and I wish you the best.

  2. A powerful story. In every way I hope that your words reach the audience that could most benefit from reading it. Best of luck to you sir. Keep telling your story as you never know who it might touch.

  3. Thank You Sir for Sharing Your Story & it has given Me a different outlook as to why Many of My Family Members sought that lifestyle bcuz I never understood it & I knew it had nothing to do w/their upbringing bcuz Our Family Dynamics were of Love & GOD!

I PRAY that this will touch the Lives of many as a tool in an effort to find SALVATION!!!

GOD BLESS YOU & Thank You 4 Sharing

  4. Thank you for sharing this tragic, heart-wrenching tale. By explaining the causes of the bad decisions — the psychology of teenagers and of gang culture — it is far more instructive and should be far more impactful than the typical “don’t do what I did” piece. I hope it finds it way not just to youth counselors but to churches, parenting groups, schools, and beyond.
