The suspect in the shootings of two Boston police officers has been identified by police as Kirk Figueroa, 33, of East Boston, the Boston Herald reports. Figueroa was the founder of a company called Code Blue Protection Corp (found at Elitepolicing.org.) He was killed at the scene. His car had professional decals reading: “Elitepolicing.org,” “Committed services,” “Bail runners” and “Justice will be done.” Figueroa’s website called him a “California Bounty Hunter and mixed martial arts practitioner” and mentioned his “fluent collaboration with other private in-house protection teams.”

The officers are out of surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital this morning and remain in critical condition. The officers, one a 28-year veteran of the force and the other a 12-year veteran, were shot late last night as they responded to a fight between roommates. Describing the events, which began as a call for a domestic incident, Mayor Martin Walsh said, “It became very intense very fast.” He added that, “Both officers acted bravely and the other officers did some incredible work last night.”
