Three people, including an aide to state Attorney General Kamala Harris, have been charged with impersonating police officers in California by dressing in uniforms and claiming to be members of the “Masonic Fraternal Police Department.” The Los Angeles Times says the three had been visiting police agencies across the state as part of a bizarre ruse, though no one seems to know what they were up to. And investigation is ongoing.
Charged were David Henry, Tonette Hayes and Brandon Kiel, a community affairs aide to Harris who was placed on paid leave after his arrest last week. Henry is identified as police chief and “Absolute Supreme Sovereign Grandmaster” in an amateurish website (masonicfraternalpolicedepartment.org) that was still online Friday morning.
