Michael Brown Family Filing Wrongful Death Case Against Ferguson

The family of Michael Brown is filing a wrongful death suit against the city of Ferguson today, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Family members, along with attorneys Benjamin Crump, Anthony Gray, and Daryl Parks, plan to announce the case at the St. Louis County Courthouse in Clayton. Brown was shot and killed on Aug. 9 by then-Ferguson officer Darren Wilson, sparking protests for months. A grand jury did not issue charges against Wilson.

Attorneys for Brown’s family said they planned a lawsuit after the U.S. Department of Justice released a report on the shooting in early March.
