Kansas Billionaire Koch to Push Agenda of Justice Reforms

Charles Koch, the Kansas billionaire and leading conservative political mega-donor, plans to push reforms in the criminal justice system, reports the Wichita Eagle. He said his efforts will key on “freedom of speech, cronyism and how that relates to opportunities for the disadvantaged.” He said his firm’s own experiences as a subject of prosecution prompted him to promote reforms.

Koch’s chief counsel, Mark Holden, said Koch wondered “how the little guy who doesn’t have Koch's resources deals with prosecutions like that.” Justice reform has led Koch to form unexpected alliances with liberals, including George Soros and the ACLU, who also support a reduction in prison populations.
