Airports in Atlanta, Dallas, Phoenix, Tampa and Denver lead the nation in Transportation Security Administration gun confiscations this year, reports the Wall Street Journal. The TSA found a total of 1,025 guns in carry-on baggage at airports through the end of June, on pace to exceed the 2013 total of 1,813 firearms in carry-on baggage through checkpoints around the country. Forty-six guns were confiscated through June 30 in Atlanta’s airport, the nation’s busiest.
TSA rules deem that people may travel with firearms only if they are unloaded, declared and checked as baggage in locked, hard-sided containers. If officers find a firearm in your carry-on, the result is a citation with fines of up to $7,500 or arrest.
