Police Seek Surveillance Evidence In “Intended” Death Of FL Law Prof

The Tallahassee Police Department is seeking information on a car seen on surveillance video in the area where law professor Dan Markel was fatally shot Friday, reports the Tallahasse Democrat. Markel, 41, was shot in the head and died at a hospital Saturday morning. The well-respected law professor at Florida State University and father of two was the “intended victim” of the homicide police say, and not the victim of a random crime.

Police Chief Michael DeLeo is asking anyone with personal surveillance cameras who live in the area of the crime contact a tip line. “Our hope is one of those cameras could provide us with a piece of vital information to bring this terrible tragedy to a close for all of those involved,” DeLeo said. The case of Markel, a native of Toronto and an expert on “retributive justice,” has received national and international attention.
