Patriots’ Hernandez In Custody After Attorney Disputes Warrant Reports

Police in North Attleborough, Ma., today took New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez from his home in handcuffs, reports the Hartford Courant. The police action comes after days of speculation about Hernandez, who has been under investigation for a possible role in the slaying of a man last week. The charges apparently will not be disclosed until Hernandez is arraigned later today.

There have been several reports over recent days that an arrest warrant for Hernandez had been signed. Before today’s action, his attorney, Michael Fee, complained that Hernandez “has been the subject of a relentless flood of rumors, misinformation, and false reports in the media. These include the repeated publication of a supposedly confirmed report that an arrest warrant had been issued for Aaron, a report that was exposed as untrue.”
