Police in Bradenton, Fl., are attributing a recent crime drop to “Operation Sandman,” police officers visiting the homes of juvenile offenders to ensure that they are home by curfew, reports the Bradenton Times. Since June, burglaries have dropped 5 percent and vehicle thefts are down 14 percent, compared with last year.
Juvenile offenders are released from detention centers under the condition that they remain inside during nighttime hours. “Operation Sandman” was started to make sure they are fulfilling the court agreements. In recent curfew checks, when five juveniles were not present for the knock at the door, they were arrested.
