Ralph Godbee Get’s Police Chief Appointment In Detroit

Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has named interim Police Chief Ralph Godbee the city’s permanent chief, reports the Detroit Free Press. “Nothing is more important than making Detroit a safe city. Chief Godbee's data-driven approach and commitment to our community is exactly what we need to continue fighting crime in our neighborhoods,'” Bing said. Godbee, 42, joined the Detroit Police Department in 1987.

Bing named Godbee interim chief in July after the mayor asked former Chief Warren Evans to resign. Bing said Evans’ ouster came in part because Evans had marketed himself in a teaser for a reality program tentatively titled “The Chief” that had been shopped around for TV.
