On October 30-31, 2009, journalists from across the country gathered at The Poynter Pavillion in St. Petersburg, Fla., for a reporting seminar co-sponsored by the Pew Center on the States and John Jay College of Justice’s Center on Media, Crime and Justice.
“The Future of Sentencing, Corrections and Crime Reduction in Florida” featured panelists including St. Petersburg mayor Rick Baker; David Utter, the Director of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Florida Initiatives; and Tim Ryan, the Director of the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department.
