The Supreme Court today said it had no jurisdiction yet to review a federal court's order that would require California to release 40,000 inmates to ease overcrowding that the lower court blamed for inadequate medical care in the 33 state prisons, reports Scotusblog.com.
The Court noted that a new order has been issued in the case that is not the subject of the challenge ruled on today. The latest lower-court order has been blocked pending Supreme Court review, an indication that the Justices expect the state to file a fresh appeal.
