Miami City Manager Pete Hernandez will interview four candidates early to replace outgoing Miami Police Chief John Timoney, with a final decision expected by week’s end, says the Miami Herald. They are Assistant Chief Adam Burden, Assistant Chief Thomas Cannon, Maj. Manuel Orosa and Maj. Miguel Exposito, according to Mayor Tomás Regalado.

No outside candidates are being considered. Notably absent from the list, Deputy Chief Frank Fernandez, Timoney’s No. 2. Regalado, during his campaign, had repeatedly vowed to replace Timoney, blaming the veteran chief for low morale’ among rank-and-file. Timoney has said he will stay on until Jan. 15.
